Know India, Shape Its Future: Cyprus Celebrates Viksit Bharat 2047 Winners

How well do you know India, and what do you hope it will look like in 2047? This year, members of our community in Cyprus answered both questions, and some of them went home with prizes.

At the High Commission's celebrations for India's 80th Independence Day, High Commissioner Mr Manish awarded prizes to the top entries in the Viksit Bharat 2047 creative competitions, plus merit and participation certificates to those who took part in the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz (Independence Day Edition).

What were the competitions?

Bharat Ko Janiye ("Know India"): a quiz testing what participants know about India's history, culture, heritage and achievements.
Viksit Bharat 2047: creative entries imagining a developed India by 2047, the 100th year of independence.

What this means for you

Contests like these are an easy, fun way for children growing up in Cyprus to learn about India, and for Cypriot friends to discover it. The High Commissioner said he hopes even more of the Indian community, and friends of India on the island, will get involved in future editions.

If your family wants to take part next time, a little preparation goes a long way:

Make it a game: hold a weekly India quiz night at home, with questions on states, festivals, freedom fighters and space missions.
Read together: short books on Indian history and stories from the epics build knowledge without feeling like homework.
Let creative kids shine: if your child loves drawing, writing or speaking, a competition like Viksit Bharat 2047 is a chance to share their ideas about India's future.
Involve the grandparents: a video call where Dada or Nani tells stories from their childhood is history brought to life.
