Why his life still matters
Born in Porbandar in 1869, Gandhi led India's freedom movement through peaceful resistance rather than force. His methods, such as non-cooperation and civil disobedience, later inspired civil rights leaders around the world. Since 2007, the United Nations has observed his birthday as the International Day of Non-Violence, a reminder that courage and change do not need violence.
Do join for a short morning of remembrance, lay a flower and reflect on the ideals of truth, simplicity and service he stood for.
Organised by the High Commission of India, Nicosia.
